This year, BSidesSLC also welcomes two amazing keynote speakers: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>David Kennedy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustedsec.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">TrustedSec<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.binarydefense.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Binary Defense<\/a>, author of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.social-engineer.org\/framework\/se-tools\/computer-based\/social-engineer-toolkit-set\/\" target=\"_blank\">SET (Social Engineering Toolkit)<\/a>, who has testified before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?317243-1\/security-experts-healthcaregov-identity-theft\" target=\"_blank\">congress<\/a> on the security of government online initiatives, and is the General Manager of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.derbycon.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Derby Con<\/a>.\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/tisiphone.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Lesley Carhart<\/a>, a 17-year IT veteran, a prolific speaker and author on digital forensics and incident management OSINT, and information security careers.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organizers kicked off BSidesSLC in 2012, following the model of national organizers who started <a href=\"http:\/\/www.securitybsides.com\/w\/page\/12194156\/FrontPage\" target=\"_blank\">BSides<\/a> in 2009 as an alternative (b side) conference for information security experts who could not present at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackhat.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blackhat Vegas<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defcon.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">DEF CON<\/a> due to a lack of space and time. BSides organizers now execute conferences around the world. Salt Lake City\u2019s conference has seen outstanding growth every year and expects at least 500 attendees this year.<\/p>\n<p>Think of BSides as \u201ca conference by the community, for the community.\u201d In other words, community-organized, volunteer-driven, and sponsorship-funded (<a href=\"https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/2016\/01\/26\/xmission-proudly-sponsors-bsidesslc-2016\" target=\"_blank\">XMission has sponsored for three years!<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>BSides is open to the public. While BSidesSLC charges $80 for full registration, they do offer a free option for folks who would like to attend the keynotes. The free option does not include workshops or raffle entry. <\/p>\n<p>BSides also works to keep their entrance prices low so people from all backgrounds can attend.
