This is specific to CalDAV configured Android devices, iPhones and iPads, or even iCal on your Mac.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\"><strong>What is happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">Let\u2019s identify a scenario around this problem. Your boss shared a calendar with your team. Functionality works flawlessly in your Zimbra webmail and\u00a0your boss&#8217;s\u00a0webmail but is behaving improperly in your non-webmail applications, like on your iPhone or Android tablet.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2869\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/xmission_zimbra_mobile_caldav_fix.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2869\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-2869\" src=\"https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/xmission_zimbra_mobile_caldav_fix-150x150.png\" alt=\"Fix CalDAV calendars on mobile.\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/xmission_zimbra_mobile_caldav_fix-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/xmission_zimbra_mobile_caldav_fix-120x120.png 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2869\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Missing calendars or can&#8217;t edit events? Try this fix for your CalDAV calendars .<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The symptoms could be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The delegated calendars will not display at all.<\/li>\n<li>The calendars appear but cannot be modified.<\/li>\n<li>You are unable to create new calendar events specific to this share.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">This can be frustrating, especially since you went through the process to configure CalDAV to support your many calendars and to save battery life on your devices.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Typically, the first thing we hear on the <a title=\"XMission Support Wiki - Zimbra documents\" href=\"http:\/\/wiki.xmission.com\/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&amp;search=Zimbra\" target=\"_blank\">support<\/a> side is, &#8220;Help, my calendar\u00a0is broken!&#8221; The good news: your calendar does work. It just requires a simple adjustment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Why is it happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It has to do with a Zimbra preference setting.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting up CalDAV with iCal delegation off doesn&#8217;t allow write access to shared calendars.<\/li>\n<li>Setting up CalDAV with iCal delegation on doesn&#8217;t allow the calendars to be provisioned on the phone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">Once CalDAV is provisioned with delegation off, the shared calendars will continue to work once delegation is turned on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Details about the fix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">Please note: the following fix is not for all Zimbra Email and Collaboration account levels. It is specific to paid <a title=\"XMission provides Zimbra Collaboration\" href=\"http:\/\/xmission.com\/zimbra\" target=\"_blank\">Premium &amp; Standard<\/a> edition accounts that support email, address book, calendar, tasks, and briefcase. It is also specific to calendars configured to use CalDAV and <strong>not<\/strong><em>\u00a0ActiveSync<\/em> (Apple iOS configuration calls it &#8220;<em>Microsoft Exchange<\/em>&#8220;). If you have ActiveSync configured for the account on any of your devices, be sure to disable the calendars inside the settings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\"><strong>The fix!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For those of you with the proper account type using CalDAV, not ActiveSync, let&#8217;s get started:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Log in to your XMission Zimbra webmail:\u00a0<a style=\"color: #336699;\" title=\"XMission's Zimbra webmail login \" href=\"https:\/\/zimbra.xmission.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/zimbra.xmission.com<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Click on the <em>Preferences<\/em> tab and select <em>Calendars<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Scroll to the bottom of the screen on the right to \u201cApple iCal.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a style=\"color: #ee4b00;\" href=\"http:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Zimbra_CalDav_Preference_XMission.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2801 size-medium\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Zimbra_CalDav_Preference_XMission-300x113.png\" alt=\"XMission Zimbra CalDAV\" width=\"300\" height=\"113\" srcset=\"https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Zimbra_CalDav_Preference_XMission-300x113.png 300w, https:\/\/xmission.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Zimbra_CalDav_Preference_XMission.png 390w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un-check iCal delgation if checked and <em>Save<\/em> your settings.<\/li>\n<li>Refresh your CalDAV calendars on your mobile clients to provision all calendars if not already provisioned.<\/li>\n<li>Return to Zimbra preferences and check iCal delegation. <em>Save<\/em> your settings.<\/li>\n<li>Refresh your CalDAV calendars again. Done!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">This should have fixed the issue with mobile devices writing to CalDAV calendars. It should also have fixed any hang-ups <a title=\"XMission iCal configuration instructions\" href=\"http:\/\/wiki.xmission.com\/Hosted_Email:Calendar_Sync_OSX\" target=\"_blank\">iCal<\/a> was having with delegated calendars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #555555;\">Again, give everything approximately 15 minutes to sync with the server. Test this with your various Android and iOS devices, allowing the device app enough time to fetch data from the server. You should be able to view and manage your delegated calendars as expected.
